Beware of Fraudulent Tax Advice
The Minnesota Department of Revenue is advising taxpayers to take a cautious approach to companies offering to settle tax debts “for pennies on the dollar.” The department is concerned about the excessive fees and poor advice being offered by some misleading advertisements.The department has a Compromise program available to taxpayers, when all other avenues are exhausted, to settle a tax debt for less than the full amount due.
